About the Clean Energy and Offshore Wind Program

With the help of a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), the MassHire North Shore Workforce Board’s (MH-NSWB) Clean Energy and Offshore Wind Program and Training Initiative seeks to meet the demands of the Salem Wind Port and the Clean Energy and Offshore Wind sector as a whole. This clean energy workforce training initiative will work with partners and service residents within the designated Environmental Justice (EJ) population neighborhoods throughout the following communities of the North Shore region: Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Lynn, Lynnfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Nahant, Middleton, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Saugus, Swampscott, Topsfield, and Wenham. The initiative will also serve EJ residents across a broader set of communities, including the Merrimack Valley, where possible. The early-stage workforce demands at the Salem Wind Port will be filled by predominantly union labor, and MH-NSWB is seeking to build direct pathways to employment by establishing Clean Energy and Offshore Wind building trades pre-apprenticeship program to help fill diversity gaps within the clean energy sector.
